After what feels like forever apart, our boys are steadily progressing through their mandatory military service, and that magical OT7 reunion is getting closer by the day. In this deep dive, I'm sharing EVERYTHING we know about their military journey and exactly when we can expect to see all seven back together again!
The Enlistment Schedule: How It All Began
It feels like just yesterday when Jin—our worldwide handsome eldest—announced his enlistment during that emotional "Astronaut" performance with Coldplay. On December 13, 2022, he became the first BTS member to begin his military journey, setting in motion what HYBE described as a "phased approach" to the group's service.
The government had previously granted BTS a special postponement until age 30 (by Korean age calculation) in recognition of their unprecedented cultural contributions, but ultimately, service was inevitable for our boys.
The Current Status: Where Is Each Member Now?
Here's the current status of each member (as of March 2025):
- Jin: Completed his service in June 2024! He served as an assistant instructor at the 5th Infantry Division.
- J-Hope: Completed his service in October 2024. He enlisted in April 2023 and served with his usual sunny disposition.
- Suga: Currently in alternative service since September 2023, expected to complete by June 2025.
- RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook: All enlisted in December 2023 and are expected to be discharged around June 2025.
